John Quincy Adams
John Quincy Adams, the 6th President of the United States, was the son of
John Adams, America's first Vice President and second President.
Andretti Family
The
Andretti family is the first family to have four relatives to compete in the
same series (CART). In 1990, 1991, and 1992, they had four family members
competing in the Indy 500. John Andretti is the nephew of IndyCar racing legend
Mario Andretti (pictured left with A.J. Foyt). Mario's sons, Michael and Jeff,
also raced in CART and Formula One. John Andretti is also the godson of
four-time Indianapolis 500 winner, A.J. Foyt, Jr. (See entry below).
William Waldorf Astor
The only child of John Jacob Astor III and Charlotte Augusta Gibbes, William
Waldorf Astor inherited a personal fortune upon his father's death that made him
the richest man in America. His cousin, John Jacob Astor IV built the
Astoria Hotel adjoining the Waldorf (built on the site of William's residence),
which then became known as the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel.
Mika Brzezinski
CBS Newscaster Mika Brzezinski is the daughter of Zbigniew Brzezinski,
National Security Advisor to President Jimmy Carter.
The Bush Family
The Bush family includes--across three generations--a U.S. Senator, two
Governors, one Vice President, and two Presidents. Samuel P. Bush was a
close advisor to President Hoover. His son Prescott served as a U.S. Senator
from Connecticut. His eldest son, Prescott Bush, Jr., served as a chairman
of the U.S.-China Chamber of Commerce. Prescott's second son, George H.W.
Bush, was a Congressman from Houston, CIA director, and the 41st President of
the United States. His eldest son, George W. Bush, the 43rd and current
President of the United States, was also the 46th Governor of Texas. Jeb Bush,
the 43rd Governor of Florida, is George H.W.'s second son. Billy Bush of
television's Access
Hollywood is W's first cousin. Pictured below from left to right: Barbara Bush, Jeb Bush, George H.W. Bush, Laura Bush, and President George W. Bush.

Hillary Rodham Clinton
New
York Senator and 2008 presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton is, of
course, the wife of former president Bill Clinton. The two met while at
Yale Law School (left), where Hillary became a partner in Bill's dream of
someday becoming
president (and perhaps her own dream of becoming president, as well). The couple
married in 1975, with Hillary keeping her maiden name. Bill became
governor of Arkansas in 1978, then lost re-election. When he ran again in
1982, Hillary began
using
her husband's last name as a way of softening her image among traditional-minded
Arkansans. However, tax records show that her full legal name was still
Hillary Rodham even as Bill ran for president in 1992. Following Bill's two
terms as president, the couple took an idea from Bobby Kennedy's playbook and
settled in heavily Democratic New York as a way of enhancing Hillary's chances
of being elected to the U.S. Senate. Will Hillary fulfill her dream of becoming
the first female president? Will the Clinton's become the first couple to
have both partners elected president? Stay tuned!
Anderson Cooper
Emmy Award winning American journalist, author, and television personality Anderson Cooper is the son of
writer and actor Wyatt Emory Cooper and artist, writer, socialite, and
designer Gloria Vanderbilt (pictured right with sons Anderson, left, and Carter).
Gloria is most noted as an early developer of designer blue jeans.
Dale Earnhardt & Family
Professional
American race car driver Dale Earnhardt, Jr. (pictured left with his father) is
the son of NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt, grandson of another NASCAR legend, Ralph Earnhardt, and nephew of NASCAR Nextel Cup driver Clay Morgan Shepherd. Dale
Earnhardt's eldest son Kerry is a former NASCAR driver, and grandson
Jeffrey Earnhardt will race for DEI this year.
A.J. Foyt, IV
All-Time USAC career wins record holder A.J. Foyt, Jr. is the grandfather of
A.J. Foyt, IV, who currently holds the record for the youngest driver to race in
the Indy 500. Foyt, Jr. is the grandfather and adoptive father of former NASCAR
driver and IRL driver, Larry Foyt. A.J. is also the godfather of driver
John Andretti. (See entry on Andretti Family).
Benjamin Harrison
Benjamin Harrison, twenty-third president of the United States, was the
grandson of William Henry Harrison, ninth president of the United States.
The elder Harrison died just 31 days into his term, while the younger Harrison
was denied re-election to a second term. William Henry Harrison held the
record as the oldest man to become president from 1841 until Ronald Reagan's
inauguration in 1980 at the age of 69.
Andrea Koppel
CNN’s State Department reporter Andrea Koppel is the eldest daughter of
Nightline host Ted Koppel.
Ben Lyons
Ben Lyons, host of E! Network’s The Daily 10 and co-host of At the Movies, is the son of television and film critic Jeffrey Lyons (Reel Talk), and the grandson of famed New York Post columnist Leonard Lyons.
The Manning Family
Former
NFL quarterback Archie Manning (far left) is the father of current Indianapolis
Colts starting quarterback Peyton Manning (middle), current New York Giants
starting quarterback Eli Manning (right), and former Ole Miss receiver Cooper
Manning. Both Peyton and Eli have now won Super Bowls.
Tug McGraw
Major League Baseball relief pitcher, Frank "Tug" McGraw, was the father of
country music singer Tim McGraw.
Eleanor Mondale
CBS This Morning correspondent Eleanor Mondale is the daughter of former
Vice-President (under Jimmy Carter), Walter Mondale.
The Roosevelts
26th President of the United States, Theodore Roosevelt was the uncle of
Eleanor Roosevelt, who married
Franklin D. Roosevelt, the 32nd President. Nicholas Roosevelt, who assisted
Robert Fulton in the development of the steamboat, was Teddy's
great-great-great-great grandfather and Eleanor and FDR's
great-great-great-great-great grandfather. FDR's grandmother, Mary Rebecca Aspinwall, was a first cousin of James Monroe's wife, Endicott Peabody.
Tim and Luke Russert
The world mourned the sudden loss of newsman Tim Russert, right, in June 2008 at the age of 58, but his genial-yet-firm journalistic approach may live on in his son, Luke. In 2006, when he was still attending Boston College, Luke, left, started co-hosting the XM Satellite Radio show 60/20 Sports with political gadfly James Carville. He was then tapped by his dad’s former network, NBC, to cover the 2008 presidential conventions from the perspective of youth issues. According to the Associated Press, Russert “realizes some might say it was only his name that got him the job. But he’s ready for the challenge and plans to work hard.”
