Rock star Prince helped percussionist Sheila Escovedo (known as "Sheila E.")become a star with her hit song "The Glamorous Life," written by Prince. Previously, she had been in a band with her father, percussionist Pete Escovedo. Her brother Peto Escovedo was in the band Con Funk Shun. Her uncle is the noted Latin percussionist Coke Escovedo.
